Antique primitive hand carved wooden statue | Eka

These wonderful antique hand-carved wooden statues are full of character and quiet presence. Traditionally, figures like these were carved in rural Indonesian communities as protective or ancestral symbols, placed in homes or village spaces to honour lineage and bring a sense of guardianship. Weathered by time and use, they now make beautifully soulful decorative pieces for any interior.

Style them as a pair on a console, shelf or mantel, or mix them into a vignette with books, ceramics and found objects. Their organic texture and simple, abstracted features add depth and interest without feeling overpowering.

Each figure has been carved from a solid piece of timber, with expressive facial features and a roughly hewn base that speaks to their hand-made origins. The surface shows a wonderfully aged patina with cracks, wear and time-softened edges that highlight the natural grain of the wood.
